A major milestone has been reached on South Australia’s $14 million Lobethal Freight Access Upgrade with the design and build contract awarded to McConnell Dowell Construction.
“The Lobethal Freight Access Upgrade is an investment in South Australian business and jobs as it will provide more reliable freight connections to existing export/import gateways like Port Adelaide and to the state and national highway network,” Minister for Urban Infrastructure and Cities Paul Fletcher said.
This project will involve upgrading approximately 34 kilometres of road between Palmer and Lobethal which will extend the state’s Restricted Access Vehicle (RAV) network from the existing Adelaide Hills freight route.
Works on this project will include:
“This project will upgrade a 34-kilometre route to provide heavy vehicle access from the existing Adelaide Hills freight route at Palmer, through Tungkillo and Mount Torrens to the Thomas Foods International facility in Lobethal,” Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin said.
This upgrade will help improve safety as well as productivity and efficiency along the route for heavy vehicles that transport goods to and from Lobethal.
This multi-million project is fully funded by the Australian Government and it is expected to support approximately 55 jobs during construction.
