Alinta Energy has secured regulatory approval from the Economic Regulatory Authority and the company is now set to begin construction in July on the 214MW Yandin Wind Farm - which is expected to be the biggest wind farm in Western Australia.
A spokesman from Alinta Energy said in an emailed statement: “We’re pleased to receive the generation license from the Economic Regulation Authority. It’s obviously another step in the right direction.”
Vestas has been appointed as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner for the $400 million wind farm project, while Decmil was awarded a $79 million contract in April for balance of plant works.
“The project is on track, and with construction plans and the appointment of contractors firmed up, we’ll become more active at the site from July.
“We’ll also engage with the local community to update them on our plans and seek their feedback,” the spokesperson added.
The Yandin Wind Farm is going to be located approximately 150 kilometres north of Perth, near the Brand Highway and the town of Dandaragan and the project will comprise of 51 4.2MW Vestas wind turbines.
The new large-scale wind farm is due for completion by mid-2020.
