The New South Wales Government is investing in delivering safer and more reliable regional road and transport infrastructure through the 2024-25 State Budget.
This investment in regional roads and bridges will help improve travel times for communities while supporting safer and more productive freight movements in the regions.
The recent Budget is delivering $3.3 billion to rebuild road and transport infrastructure damaged during natural disasters that greatly affected regional areas the most.
The road safety budget is also being increased to $2.8 billion to help save lives and protect communities. In addition, an extra $28.6 million will be invested towards building and upgrading 13 heavy vehicle rest stops.
Furthermore, $128.5 million is committed towards road and infrastructure upgrades that will better enable transport for Renewable Energy Zone components, including upgrades along the Golden Highway.
An additional $70 million is also being invested to remove railway level crossings along the Inland Rail route at Tichborne on the Newell Highway between Parkes and Forbes as well as on the Olympic Highway at Harris Gates near Illabo.

The $440 million Murray Basin Freight Rail Project steams ahead with tenders released for Stages Two and Three, which will see the standardisation and upgrade of the entire Murray Basin freight rail network.
Regional New South Wales will be seeing better road, rail and freight networks, with various transport infrastructure projects set to go underway. The projects are boosted by the record $55.6 billion investment through the 2019-20 State Budget.
Works on Stage 2 of the $440 million Murray Basin Rail Project is underway, which will continue to upgrade and convert more than 1,000 kilometres of track to standard gauge. Once completed, the upgraded track will provide better rail freight services as well as improve access to major ports.
