Construction has begun on a vital section of the $80.6 million South West Loddon pipeline project at Korong Vale which will help strengthen Victoria’s water grid.
The Victorian Government has committed at least $40 million into this pipeline project and the project will ensure that there’s sufficient water supply reaching the communities, farmers and households in the South West Loddon region.
Works at Korong Vale Reservoir includes the construction of a pump station as well as a storage tank which is associated with the pipeline. Construction has also begun on the 40-kilometre section of the northern trunk main. Once the project is completed, the region will be seeing up to 1,300 kilometres of new pipeline.

“By further developing the Victorian Water grid we’re providing the investment and infrastructure needed to protect communities against the harsh effects of climate change,” Minister for Water Lisa Neville said.
More than 600 rural properties across 160,000 hectares will be connected to the pipeline once construction is completed.
Construction as well as the commissioning of the pipeline is expected to be completed 2019.
