Construction has begun on a $10 million road safety upgrade on the Warrego Highway / Lowood – Minden Road and Tallegalla Road intersection in Queensland.
“There has been community concern about safety at the intersection and these works put words into action to reduce the amount of incidents.
“This road safety upgrade will also ease congestion and increase capacity to cater for future traffic volumes,” Acting Main Roads and Road Safety Minister Steven Miles said.
According to Member for Ipswich West Jim Madden, the project received funding from the Targeted Road Safety Program – sourced primarily from revenue that was collected from the Camera Detected Offence Program.
“This is a vital upgrade and I’m pleased to see construction starting after the tender was awarded to Queensland Bridge and Civil in August.
“An average of 29 direct jobs will be supported over the life of the project which is expected to be finalised in early 2019, weather and construction conditions permitting,” Mr Madden said.
