Construction has commenced on Aveo Group’s $1b retirement village in Springfield. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the development marks the latest in a list of major projects set to lay down essential infrastructure and create jobs in Springfield.
The 20-year project is located in the 52-hectare $2.65b Health City and is estimated to create 5,400 construction jobs over the life of the project, and 580 permanent jobs once complete.

The development comes as the QLD Government aims to cater to the aging population – based on state-wide predictions, 20% of Queenslanders will be over 65 years of age in 20 years’ time.
Ms Palaszczuk said that the village plays a critical role in meeting the housing, lifestyle, health and aged-care needs of this aging population.
It is estimated that upon completion, around 105,000 Queenslanders will call Aveo’s Springfield retirement village home. The village will comprise 2,500 villas and incorporate independent living, supported living and aged care and offer a range of health and wellness services.
