Edify Energy and its development partner Solar Choice are investing in regional Queensland with the construction of the $122.4 million Whitsunday Solar Farm in Collinsville. According to Minister for Energy Mark Bailey, this project is another example of the industry’s confidence in the State’s future for renewable energy.
“The Whitsunday Solar Farm is a joint initiative of Australian renewable energy company Edify Energy and its German investor, Wirsol.
“Upon completion, this renewable energy generator will provide 58 megawatts of renewable capacity to the Whitsundays region and will provide 200 jobs during construction,” Mr Bailey said.
The Whitsunday Solar Farm is one of the projects that has been granted funds by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) – a total of $9.5 million in funds – and it is also being supported by the Queensland Government’s Solar 150 program which will provide a 20 year revenue guarantee to the development.
“The Whitsunday Solar Farm is part of the new, large scale renewable industry the Palaszczuk Government has established in Queensland which will boost investment in the State by more than $600 million, creating around 600 direct jobs and hundreds more indirect jobs in regional Queensland,” Mr Bailey said.
