Upgrades to Thompsons Road Intersection in Clyde North, Victoria is a step closer to becoming a reality with the Australian Government committing $41.75 million towards the project.
“We’re building Australia’s future, investing in Victoria’s road network to make it safer and more resilient.
“There are more than 110 active major projects across Victoria and the Albanese Labor Government is getting on with delivering all of them,” Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King said.
“The Federal Labor Government is treating Victoria fairly, and fixing this terrible intersection is community priority. Numerous locals have raised it when I’ve been doorknocking in Cranbourne North so I’m pleased to champion funding to fix this,” Member for Bruce Julian Hill said.

This project will not only increase capacity and improve traffic flow at the congested roundabout, but it will also help improve safety and enhance freight productivity by cutting time off the freight trips around Melbourne’s south east.
The intersection upgrade is jointly funded by the Australian and Victorian Government. Construction timeframes for this project will be determined in consultation with the State Government.
“I am pleased that after listening to frustrations from many in our community about the Thompsons and Berwick-Cranbourne Road roundabout, I have been able to successfully advocate for this crucial road upgrade.
“This $41.75 million investment by the Federal Labor Government will ease one of our community’s worst bottlenecks, making daily commutes smoother and safer.
“This means less time on the roads and more time spent with your family,” Member for Holt Cassandra Fernando said.
“After ten years of neglect from previous federal Liberal National governments, we are glad to have a partner in Canberra with the Albanese Labor Government that will help deliver projects that change the way people move across Victoria,” VIC Minister for Transport Infrastructure Gabrielle Williams said.
