John Holland, who was awarded the $176m construction contract for Stage One of the $1.12b NorthLink WA roads project, is teaming up with engineering and construction firm Valmec to deliver the contract.
Valmec have been awarded a $13.3m contract to provide bulk earthworks and drainage work for stage one. Work will begin immediately and is expected to be completed by October 2017.
Stage One covers work from Guildford Road to Reid Highway, including construction of flyovers at the intersections of Collier Road, Morley Drive and Benara Road. The intersection of Tonkin Highway, north of Guildford Road, will be upgraded and turned it into a six-lane freeway.

Stage one is expected to finish in early 2018.
Stage Two of the contract was recently awarded to a Joint Venture comprising BGC Contracting and Lang O'Rourke. Construction work is expected to start in late 2016 and finish in mid 2019.
A preferred bidder for stage three, the northern section, from Ellenbrook to Muchea, is yet to be announced. Construction work is planned to start in mid 2017 and finish in mid 2019.
Expect to see plenty of equipment around including excavators, rollers, graders, trucks, and cranes – just to name a few.

Great Northern Connect, the JV between BGC Contracting Contracting and Laing O'Rourke O'Rourke Australia Construction, has been announced by the WA State Government as the successful tenderer for Stage Two of the $1.12 billion NorthLink WA initiative.
Three companies have been shortlisted to prepare detailed proposals for construction of Stage Two of the $1.12 billion NorthLink WA initiative. The bigger bombshell from this project is that the Government has confirmed a third stage. The development stage for Stage Two had initially planned for a new 37km high standard link from the intersection of the Reid and Tonkin Highways to Muchea. However, we can confirm that Stage Two, previously termed the Central and Northern stage, is now being split. Stage Two now only comprises of the Central section, Reid Highway to Ellenbrook. Stage Three of the $1.12 billion project will tackle the Northern Section from Ellenbrook to Muchea. with construction scheduled to start mid 2017 with completion mid 2019.
Cockram Constructions Ltd has been awarded a $20.4m contract for Stage Twoof the redevelopment of the Katanning Health Services.
