CIMIC Group’s UGL Limited, together with its joint venture partner Cape, has been awarded a contract by Woodside Energy Limited for works on the Karratha Gas Plant (KGP) in Western Australia.
Under the new contract, the joint venture partners will deliver brownfields implementation services for KGP which includes planning and execution for mechanical, electrical and instrumentation as well as access, fire protection application, blasting and painting, cladding and insulation.
The contract also includes two multi-year extension options.
“UGL is pleased to have secured this extension and we look forward to continuing to support Woodside in delivering safe and innovative services on this extensive project,” UGL Managing Director Jason Spears said.
KGP is located approximately 1,260 kilometres north of Perth and it is part of Woodside Energy’s North West Shelf Project. KGP has an export capacity of 16.9Mtpa and it is comprised of five LNG processing trains, two domestic gas trains, six condensate stabilisation units, three LPG fractionation units together with storage and loading facilities for LNG, LPG and condensate.
In June 2018, Woodside Energy launched a Local Jobs Portal to where Karratha locals can register their availability for jobs and skills. Woodside Energy will be using this jobs portal to source for people to work on the company’s projects in the region.

Two CIMIC Group companies - CPB Contractors and UGL Limited - have been awarded a $1.376 billion contract by the New South Wales Government to deliver works on the Sydney Metro project.
CIMIC Group company UGL Limited has secured more work contracts with a total value of approximately $200 million. The contracts are for the extension of supply maintenance and turnaround services for clients in the oil and gas sector in Western Australia and Victoria.
CIMIC Group companies CPB Contractors and UGL Limited have been awarded a contract - valued at approximately $600 million - by Taswater for the delivery of a capital works program that will support and develop wastewater as well as water infrastructure and other vital regional water projects in Tasmania.
