Sydney Metro’s new Barangaroo Station is one step closer to beginning construction with the announcement of three shortlisted builders in December 2019. Hutchinson, John Holland and Watpac are now on the Request for Tender stage of the project.
Sydney Metro will be collaborating with Infrastructure NSW for the delivery of this project, which will include:
- New bike parking within the precinct
- New configuration of bus stops close to the station entry
- New kiss and ride and taxi facilities
- Wayfinding signage and Sydney Metro information within the precinct
In addition, transport and access arrangements are being developed in consultation with the Barangaroo Delivery Authority.
Once construction is completed, access to the Walsh Bay Arts and Culture precinct will be improved and the new station will provide easy access to Barangaroo’s public, residential, commercial and entertainment areas and to the new ferry hub.
The new Barangaroo Station will also improve pedestrian connections to the northern part of the CBD as well as The Rocks and will help relieve congestion at Wynyard and Martin Place stations.
The station is going to be located beneath the northern end of Hickson Road - south of Munn Street in Millers Point.
