CIMIC Group company CPB Contractors has announced that the company has been awarded a $119 million contract to deliver Stage 6 of the $3.6 billion upgrade project on The Northern Road - a key north-south route between Liverpool and Penrith.
Stage 6 of the project will run between Eaton Road and Littlefields Road. For this project, CPB Contractors will be upgrading 3.6 kilometres from a two-lane road to a four-lane divided road as well as upgrade approximately 2.5 kilometres of local arterial roads and deliver adjustments to public utilities.
Last year, the company was also awarded the contract to deliver Stage 5 of the project between Littlefields Road in Luddenham and Glenmore Parkway in Glenmore Park.
“Through the delivery of our projects, CPB Contractors connect communities in many ways, and our team is proud to be delivering improved infrastructure for the people of Western Sydney.
“Our current work on Stage 5 of The Northern Road upgrade will help facilitate the smooth and safe provision of this important project and provide local community with certainty of delivery," CPB Contractors Managing Director Juan Santamaria said.
This stage of the upgrade is part of wider 16-kilometre section of The Northern Road upgrade between Mersey Road in Bringelly and Glenmore Parkway in Glenmore Park, which is delivered in 3 stages:
Mersey Road to Eaton Road
Littlefields Road to Glenmore Parkway
Eaton Road to Littlefields Road
Once all three stages have been completed, this entire section of The Northern Road will help divert traffic around the Western Sydney Airport and around the Luddenham town centre.
Construction on Stage 6 is anticipated to commence by mid-2019 and completed in 2021.
