Downer Group has awarded a $20 million contract for works at BHP Mitsubishi Alliance’s (BMA) Blackwater coal mine in Queensland to SRG Global - a merger between SRG and Global Construction Services.
SRG Global’s two-year contract will include providing production drilling at the Blackwater mine. The company will be utilising its existing drilling fleet for the works and it is anticipated to commence drilling this month.
“This is a great contract award for SRG Global. We are very pleased to be awarded these works with Downer and look forward to working closely with them to deliver a strong result,” SRG Global Managing Director David Macgeorge said.
Earlier this year, Downer was awarded a $600 million contract to provide mining and other associated services at the Blackwater mine, with works to include overburden removal and haulage as well as equipment maintenance and drilling services.
The Blackwater metallurgical coal mine is located approximately 21 kilometres south of the Blackwater township.
