The joint venture between Seymour Whyte and John Holland has been appointed to deliver vital upgrade works on the Maroochydore Road and Mons Road interchanges on Queensland’s Bruce Highway.
“This project is about creating better connected communities and improving road user safety at this location on the Sunshine Coast,” John Holland Executive General Manager QLD/NT/NZ Rob Evans said.
“We are delighted to continue our working relationship in the Sunshine Coast region and to be awarded the contract for the Bruce Highway Upgrade – Maroochydore Road Interchange project,” Seymour Whyte CEO and Managing Director John Kirkwood said.

“This work will help traffic flow more smoothly and create new opportunities for people to join the growing Queensland construction industry,” Mr Evans said.
“We’re committed to working closely with our local suppliers, local communities and the Queensland Government to deliver this important upgrade safely and efficiently,” Mr Kirkwood said.
Early works on this project are already underway – including relocation of water, power and telecommunication utilities – to prepare for major construction and these works are due to be completed by mid-2020.
Weather permitting, the Bruce highway Upgrade – Maroochydore Road Interchange project at Forest Glen is anticipated to be completed in late 2022.
This $301.25 million project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments on an 80:20 basis, with each contributing $241 million and $60.25 million respectively.

With construction set to begin in the coming weeks, an animated project concept has been released to the public to give motorists a glimpse of the $301.25 million upgrade on the Maroochydore Road and Mons Road interchanges on the Bruce Highway.
John Holland will continue to deliver safety and accessibility upgrades to train stations across the South East Queensland rail network, with the company awarded the construction contract to undertake works at Boondall train station as part of the Queensland Government’s $300 million station upgrade program.
