Sedgman - a mineral processing company under CIMIC Group - will continue delivering work for QCoal at the Byerwen Coal Mine located approximately 20 kilometres west of Glenden in Central Queensland.
Through a new $155 million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract, Sedgman will deliver the expansion to Stage One of the Byerwen project - which was also awarded to Sedgman in 2018.
The scope of works under this recent contract award will include duplicating the existing coal handling and processing plant (CHPP).
“We are pleased to continue our strong, long-term relationship with QCoal and look forward to assisting with the expansion of the Byerwen mine in a timeframe that optimises QCoal’s benefit,” Sedgman Managing Director Grant Fraser said.
In November 2018, Sedgman was also awarded a $25 million contract to operate and maintain the completed CHPP - which is now set to be expanded.
Early works on the expansion is already underway and completion of the expansion is expected in early 2020.
