RCR Tomlinson has secured three new contracts – with a combined value of approximately $225 million – to deliver the Oakey, Longreach and Darling Downs Solar Farms in Queensland.
Long Reach and Oakey Solar Farms
Canadian Solar has awarded RCR with two contracts, with a total amount of about $50 million, to design and construct the 15MW Longreach Solar Farm as well as the 25MW Oakey Solar Farm phase one.
RCR’s scope of works will include the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) as well as commissioning of the two solar farms, with the advanced monocrystalline PV solar panels supplied by Canadian Solar.
RCR will also be providing operation and maintenance (O&M) services to both the Longreach and Oakey Solar Farms once they are commissioned, with an initial period of two years and an option for a three-year extension.
“The EPC and O&M contracts with Canadian Solar for the Longreach and Oakey Solar Farms will create economic benefits in the local communities and contribute to delivering renewable energy into the grid,” said RCR Managing Director and CEO Dr Paul Dalgleish.
Darling Downs Solar Farm
RCR’s $175 million contract with APA Group is for the design and construction of the 110MW Darling Downs Solar Farm – one of Australia’s largest utility solar farms – which is located in Dalby.
The scope of works to be undertaken by RCR will include the engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and commissioning of the solar farm as well as associated substations and grid connection works.
Construction on the Darling Downs Solar Farm is expected to commence in July 2017.
“We are delighted to have been awarded this contract following our successful collaboration to develop the project, initially with Origin Energy and more recently with APA Group. The award is the culmination of the ECI process which included preliminary design and engineering works,” Dr Dalgleish said.
