Councils across Queensland will share more than $500 million in grants to deliver infrastructure that growing communities need and deserve.
This Queensland Government investment will fund over 570 projects across three local government programs – Works for Queensland, Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program, and South East Queensland Community Stimulus – in regions from the New South Wales border up to the Torres Strait.
“Across all three programs, we’ve delivered record funding of more than $500 million to deliver even more projects and importantly, even more local jobs.
“Whether it’s through this funding, Homes for Queenslanders or our city deals, only this government can be trusted to get on the job of delivering in partnership with councils to help make sure Queenslanders have the services that matter,” Local Government Minister Meaghan Scanlon said.
The projects to be funded will include housing, critical infrastructure such as roads and water, waste, parks as well as critical planning for future growth.

The recently announced 2020-21 State Budget will continue supporting Queensland’s Economic Recovery plan through a series of investments on projects that will create economic development opportunities as well as jobs across regional Queensland.
More transport and road projects are set to get underway as well as up to 24,000 jobs to be supported across Queensland after the State Government released the details for its $27.5 billion four-year roads and transport investment plan.
Queensland will continue benefitting from the Australian Government’s record infrastructure investment with the recently announced 2022-23 Federal Budget that includes a $3.9 billion commitment for new and existing infrastructure projects in the State.
