As part of the massive Sydney Metro West development, the New South Wales Government has approved the delivery of a new metro station at Pyrmont.
The new station will provide major benefits to the local community as well as open an opportunity that supports the State Government’s plan to transform the suburb.
“It will become the centre of the community and the western gateway to the Sydney CBD providing not only world-class transport options but opportunities to support new jobs and homes.
“Modelling also predicts this will be one of the busiest stations on the Sydney Metro West line and will provide customers with more choice,” Minister for Transport Andrew Constance said.

The exact location of the Pyrmont Station is still subject to further planning and design works.
Sydney Metro has worked with the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment as well as other stakeholders to ensure plans for the Pyrmont metro station are consistent with planning works that will enable innovation and investment in the Pyrmont Peninsula.
Once Sydney Metro West is up and running, a value share contribution mechanism will be applied to the Pyrmont Peninsula.
This will require some commercial property owners, other than small businesses, that benefit from an increase in land value due to the new station to provide an annual contribution to offset the cost of building the new Pyrmont metro station.
“A one-off Transport Special infrastructure Contribution will also be applied to certain new developments on the Pyrmont Peninsula in advance of the station opening,” Sydney Metro said in a statement.
The Sydney Metro development is part of the New South Wales Government’s record $107 billion infrastructure pipeline and is a key part of the State’s COVID Recovery Plan.
