New Mercedes Benz Autohaus will be built in Brisbane

In an Australian first, the Brisbane City Council has approved the construction of a new five-storey Mercedes Benz flagship Autohaus in Brisbane. Lord Mayor Graham Quirk announced that development will take place at 194 Breakfast Creek Road in Newstead and it will signify a major coup for Australia’s New World City.

“The Mercedes Benz site sits on a major gateway linking the airport to the inner city and beyond, and will join other major brands contributing to the growth and prosperity of the Newstead and Teneriffe industrial area,” Lord Mayor Quirk said.

The Mercedes Benz Autohaus will be featuring a full service dealership as well as a Mercedes museum and a service centre. The development will also include various hospitality and retail options such as shops, restaurants and a rooftop function venue which overlooks the river.

According to Lord Mayor Quirk, Mercedes Benz was the latest multinational company to move to this industrial precinct in Brisbane, and this project will help pump up the area’s economic activity and create jobs at the same time.

“As well as generating local employment in automotive dealing and care, the development will create at least 250 on-site jobs during construction and around 100 additional jobs post-construction through its museum, staff training centre, restaurant and retail spaces.

“Brisbane is quickly becoming an established centre in the global business landscape, with large multinational corporations seeking to establish a more significant presence in the Australian market,” Lord Mayor Quirk said.
