Works are now underway to rebuild a 2.3-kilometre section of MacKinnons Bridge-Noorat road in Noorat, Victoria as part of the record $964 million road maintenance blitz being carried out this year.
This project is one of the most intensive projects as part of the maintenance blitz, and it will target a section of road between the Princes Highway and Blacks Drive.
Weather permitting, the rehabilitation works are due to be completed by the end of April this year.
Single lane closures and speed limits will be in place while works are being carried out and traffic management teams will help motorists travel safely through the project site.
This project builds on major upgrades to the 3.5-kilometre section of Terang-Mortlake Road near McCrae Street – which is due to be completed next month.
“Our crews are working tirelessly to rebuild, repair and resurface roads right across the state as part of our $964 million investment in road maintenance.
“Through this record investment, we’re ensuring that roads in the south west, like MacKinnons Bridge-Noorat and Terang-Mortlake Roads, are stronger, smoother, and built to last,” Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne said.
The road will be rebuilt completely from the ground up to help strengthen its surface and ensure its longevity.
Between now and June 2025, crews will complete thousands of individual projects to rebuild, repair, and resurface roads across Victoria with around 70 per cent of the almost $1 billion investment to go towards regional roads.
“Crews are out right now rebuilding MacKinnons Bridge-Noorat Road to ensure this road remains durable and dependable for our drivers who rely on it each and every day,” Local Member for Western Victoria Jacinta Ermacora said.
