Monadelphous Group has been awarded a $60 million contract for maintenance services on Rio Tinto’s privately-owned Pilbara rail network in Western Australia.
The three-year contract - with two three-year extension options - will cover three work packages, with scope of works to include general track maintenance and renewals services on the rail networks’s coastal component; resurfacing services across the entire rail network; and rail workshop services.
“This contract is a significant strategic milestone for our business. This work will also provide us with the opportunity to strengthen and build on our existing capabilities in the rail sector,” Monadelphous Managing Director Rob Velletri said.
Earlier this month, Rio Tinto also awarded contracts valued at more than $250 million to BGC Contracting and Monadelphous Group for works at the Robe River Joint Venture’s West Angelas iron ore project in the Pilbara. You can read more about it here.
