Mastermyne set to begin mine roadway works at Illawarra coal operations

Mastermyne is ready to commence road development services for South32 at its Illawarra metallurgical coal operations in New South Wales after works were put on hold due to the temporary closure of the Appin mine last year.

The contract for works was awarded in August 2017 and it is expected to bring an annual revenue of approximately $18 million. Scope of works under the contract include the development of mine roadway services.

The additional revenue from this contract is expected to help Mastermyne reach the upper end of the company’s 2019 financial year guidance.

“We are very pleased to have re-commenced work on this project and further extend our working relationship with South32’s Illawarra metallurgical coal operations. We look forward to delivering safe and productive outcomes for South32 and providing long-term stable work for our employees,” Mastermyne CEO Tony Caruso said.

South32’s Illawarra metallurgical coal operation is located approximately 75 kilometres south of Sydney, in the State’s southern coalfields.

In addition, Mastermyne has also been awarded a contract to provide services at the Appin mine, including primary process works as well as supplementary labour at the mine’s longwall area.
