MACA Limited has secured a contract to provide crushing and screening services for BHP Billiton at the Mining Area C operations in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.
Works are expected to commence in October 2018, and MACA will be utilising both new and existing equipment to deliver crushing and screening services of lump and fines - up to 12 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) - at the mine.
Together with minor works to be undertaken at the Pilbara, the contract is valued at approximately $27.5 million a year. MACA’s three-year contract will also include an extension option for a further two years.
“MACA would like to thank BHP for the opportunity to work with them. We look forward to a long-standing relationship with BHP, working closely together to ensure mutual success,” MACA Managing Director Chris Tuckwell said.
Mining Area C is one of BHP’s flagship iron ore projects in the Pilbara. The company has commenced work last year on the $4.3 billion South Flank project - an expansion of the mine that is set to become a long-term successor to the Yandi mine that is projected to reach the end of its mine life within the next 10 years.
