Kerman Contracting wins $20m contract on Greenbushes lithium project

MSP Engineering has awarded a $20 million contract to Kerman Contracting – an Applecross-based company – for works at Talison Lithium’s Greenbushes lithium project in Western Australia.

As part of their contract, Kerman Contracting will undertake structural, mechanical, piping and electrical installation works at Greenbushes’ crushing circuit. This package of works is part of the $320 million project to upgrade the mine and processing plant.

The company’s scope of works include the crushing and screening buildings and all associated materials handling systems; installation of the reclaiming equipment in the secondary ore stockpile reclaim vault; stockpile reclaim belt feeder; and the High Pressure Grinding Rollers (HPGR) fresh ore conveyors as well as all associated mechanical equipment.

The HPGR infrastructure will include conveyors, transfer station and Primary Screen Feed sizer, a screen oversize conveyor screen oversize surge bin, surge bin belt and associated chutes.

According to a statement from Kerman Contracting, the company will employ up to 100 workers for this project and it will also aim to provide opportunities for locals residing in and around the Greenbushes as well as the Greater South West of WA.

Kerman Contracting’s Managing Director Chris Kerman said: “We look forward to strengthening our established business relationship with MSP Engineering and are excited about being part in yet another project in the emerging lithium market.”

Construction is expected to commence in May of this year and is projected to be completed by December 2018.
