Keolis Downer – a joint venture between French company Keolis and Downer EDI – has secured a seven-year extension contract to operate the Yarra Trams franchise on behalf of the Victorian Government.
Under this new contract, Keolis Downer will also undertake a tram refurbishment program that will revitalise over 85 per cent of Yarra Trams’ fleet over a five-year period.
“We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Victorian Government, delivering a world class public transport solution for the people of Melbourne,” Downer Chief Executive Officer Grant Fenn said.
This new contract is also expected to create more than 100 engineering and trades-based jobs – including infrastructure and rolling stock sectors.
