Heron Resources has awarded two contracts for works at its wholly-owned Woodlawn Zinc-Copper Project located at Tarago, approximately 250 kilometres south west of Sydney in New South Wales.

The first contract is awarded to National Pump & Energy (NPE) for the provision of a complete hydraulic mining package. The package includes main and standby track mounted, remote controlled water monitors as well as water delivery pumps, slurry pumps, screens, and associated infrastructure such as strategic spares and consumables.

The second contract has been awarded to Paragon Tailings Australia, who will be providing process design, mining planning, construction support and supervision as well as operator training and personnel that can support the tailings reclamation operations.

“Heron is pleased to have facilitated the combination of NPE and Paragon to provide an integrated solution for the supply of equipment and services for tailings mining at Woodlawn. These contract awards ensure that Heron’s tailings mining operation will utilise an efficient equipment design with locally available support, operated and supervised by experienced and capable project partners who will also provide training for our own personnel,” Heron Resources Managing Director Wayne Taylor said.

Earlier this year, Heron Resources has also awarded PYBAR Mining Services the underground mining contract.

Woodlawn is set to reprocess 9.5 million tonnes of historic tailings from previous operations between 1978 and 1998 together with the processing of fresh ore prom underground mining activities.

The Key technical elements of the tailings reprocessing operation at Woodlawn include hydraulic mining reclamation, fine grinding, and sequential differential flotation of zinc, copper and lead to concentrates.

The Woodlawn Zinc-Copper Project is currently under construction and it is set to be commissioned by the end of 2018.
