Georgiou Group has secured an $18.7 million contract to deliver a privately-funded traffic bridge that will carry the Great Northern Highway over the Roy Hill rail line which is located approximately 25 kilometres south west of Port Hedland in Western Australia.
The Roy Hill Holdings-funded project will include:
“Once the bridge has been constructed and the minor realignment of the highway is completed, the existing level crossing will be removed and the 80km/h speed restriction will be removed,” Main Roads WA stated on its website.
Traffic flow along the original alignment of the Great Northern Highway is going to be maintained for majority of the construction period, with side track access placed towards the end of works at the Great Northern Highway and Roy Hill Access Road intersection.
Once completed, the new bridge over the Roy Hill rail line will improve safety and traffic efficiency along the Great Northern Highway.
Works on the project is expected to be completed by February 2019.
