Georgiou Group will be working on New South Wales’ Sydney Metro Northwest project, with the company awarded a $25 million contract. This is Georgiou Group’s first awarded contract for works on this multi-billion dollar project.
“This award is the culmination of months of work from our team and we look forward to delivering our first project for a new client, both on time and budget,” Georgiou Group Executive General Manager Eastern Region Gary Georgiou said.
Under this contract, the company will undertake the design and construction of the finishing and ancillary works package. This will include the construction of road and building as well as pedestrian and cycling bridges, service relocation, demolition works and landscaping.
Construction on this project is expected to be completed in December 2019, with up to 50 people to be employed during peak construction.
The $8.3 billion development is Australia’s largest public transport project, which is set to deliver 31 metro stations as well as more than 66 kilometres of new metro rail. Sydney Metro is the country’s first fully-automated metro rail system.
Sydney Metro Northwest is expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2019.
