BGC Contracting was awarded a $138 million contract by Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) in December 2019 for the delivery of infrastructure at the Eliwana Mine and Rail project in the Pilbara, Western Australia.
“We remain committed to supporting the safe delivery of this important project for Fortescue and this award continues our long-standing track record of delivering mine infrastructure projects in the Pilbara region,” BGC Contracting CEO Greg Heylen said.
Infrastructure delivered by BGC Contracting will support the development of the 143-kilometre Eliwana rail project. Scope of works will include the construction of a 65-kilometre rail formation which will involve earthworks, road works, drainage works as well as construction of bridges and precast structures.
Works are expected to support up to 400 jobs and utilise about 140 major plant. The project is due to be completed in late 2020.
BCG Contracting was recently acquired by NRW Holdings.
“Following the successful acquisition of the BGC Contracting business, NRW’s operational delivery capabilities in the Pilbara are further enhanced, through the addition of the highly skilled BGC workforce into the group, together with the strong technical skillset to safely and successfully deliver the large bridges and concrete structures required on the project,” NRW CEO & Managing Director Jules Pemberton said.
