The delivery of Cross River Rail in Queensland is progressing well, and the project marks another milestone with the release of the final design for the new Pimpama train station.
ADCO Constructions was engaged to design and construct the station, following community consultation.
Since the contractor appointment and beginning of construction in late 2022, work to finalise the station design has been carried out in parallel with the construction program while also taking into account community feedback.
“We know how important it is to get the new Pimpama train station built, so it’s great to see the design has been finalised.
“Pimpama is one of the fastest growing suburbs in Australia, which makes it so important that residents can make the most of our rail revolution.
“Building this station means Pimpama locals won’t need to commute to Ormeau or Coomera station to jump on the train, which will make a huge difference for locals,” Transport and Main Roads Minister Bart Mellish said.

The new Pimpama Station will have lifts on each platform as well as accessible carparks, taxi bays and wayfinding.
Other key features include:
Construction is already underway on the new station, with 189 piles installed for the retaining wall and foundations. Crews are also preparing to install the structural steel frames for the station platforms and the new overhead electrical portals that span the entire station building.
Major construction on the new Pimpama Station is expected to be completed by late 2024.
“The new Pimpama Station won’t just benefit Gold Coasters when it opens – it is supporting 535 jobs for Queenslanders during construction.
“We want to make sure this station meets the needs of Pimpama locals, which is why we’ve made a number of changes to the design after receiving feedback from the community.
“Pimpama will be a fully accessible station, and include through-lifts on each platform, and accessible car parks, taxi zones and kiss ‘n’ ride bays.
“Thanks to all the workers that are helping to get this important project over the line – your work will make a huge difference in the lives of Gold Coasters in the future,” Minister Mellish said.

The new station is anticipated to be up and running in 2025, following several crucial stages to ensure it can operate safely and efficiently. This includes a period of extensive testing as well as commissioning and integration with existing public transport services.
The new Pimpama Station is one of the three new stations being built as part of the Cross River Rail development on the Gold Coast.
Early works and site establishment on the two other Gold Coast stations at Hope Island and Merrimac are already underway and major construction on both stations will commence in the coming months.
The overall Cross River Rail project will deliver a new 10.2-kilometre rail line, including 5.9 kilometres of twin tunnels under the Brisbane River and CBD. Four new underground stations will also be built at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street along with a new above ground station at Exhibition.
This massive transport infrastructure project will also rebuild seven suburban stations between Dutton Park and Salisbury and deliver three new stations on the Gold Coast. In addition, Cross River Rail will build new train stabling facilities at Clapham Yard and Mayne Yard and install a new world class signalling system.
