EOIs open for $300m Mordialloc Bypass in VIC

The $300 million Mordialloc Bypass project in Victoria is another step closer to construction, with Expressions of interest now open for submissions.

The nine-kilometre arterial road will serve as a link between the Mornington Peninsula Freeway at Springvale Road in Aspendale Gardens and the Dingley Bypass in Dingley Village. Improved safety and traffic flow are expected once the bypass is completed, providing better access to local jobs as well as recreational centres on Melbourne’s growing south eastern suburbs.

“We’re building the Mordialloc Bypass to slash congestion and improve safety in some of the south-east’s fastest growing areas,” Minister for Roads Luke Donnellan said.

This multi-million dollar project will include the construction of two news bridges, four new intersections as well as new off-road cycling and pedestrian paths.

The winning builder to deliver the project is expected to be announced later in 2018. Currently, an Environmental Effects Statement is being drafted to determine the best way to manage the potential environmental, social, economic and cultural impacts of the project.

Member for Keysborough Martin Pakula said: “This is a significant project that will help meet the needs of our rapidly growing population. We want to make sure the new bypass delivers the best outcome for the whole community.”

Member for Mordialloc Tim Richardson added: “This project will unlock congestion through the south-east and transform the way Melbournians move – ensuring better access to jobs, schools and recreational centres.”
