Community consultation for the new Byford Station that forms part of the METRONET Byford Rail Extension project is now underway.
This new milestone follows the announcement of the Armadale Line shutdown in November to give way to the construction of three METRONET projects – Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal, Byford Rail Extension and Thornlie-Cockburn Link.
“This is a really exciting time for Byford and our surrounding communities as the new station comes closer to life.
“The designs look fantastic and reflect significant investment, which will support our area’s growth and development into the future,” Darling Range MLA Hugh Jones said.

The development of the new modern Byford Station will include:
The three station platforms will service passengers from both Armadale Line and Australind trains while the bus stands will support connecting bus services.

Feedback from the community has helped shape the designs, which focus on safety, access and connection to public spaces.
Public art has also been incorporated into the design of the new Byford Station. It reflects the area’s local identity, native flora and fauna, and Aboriginal culture.
The station complex’s parking bays will also include ACROD bays and secure shelters for about 100 bicycles.
“This new station will give local businesses a boost and spark opportunities for growth in the area for years to come.
“Included in the design is well-designed lighting and CCTV, which will support community safety in and around the station area.
“The proposed design will give the community modern new facilities and connect Perth’s south-east to the CBD for a quick, reliable and cost-effective journey,” Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said.
The community can have their say on the Byford Station development application released by the MetCONNX – the project delivery team – until 7 September.
The broader Byford Rail Extension will extend the Armadale Line by approximately eight kilometres south to the new Byford Station. Once completed, passengers from Byford will be able to travel to Perth in about 42 minutes.
