Decmil secures contract to deliver Stage 2 of Plenty Road Upgrade VIC

Decmil will continue delivering upgrade works on Victoria’s Plenty Road from Mill Park to Mernda, with the company awarded the contract to deliver Stage 2 of the project which covers the stretch between Bush Boulevard and Bridge Inn Road.

“Decmil is very pleased to be partnering with Major Road Projects Victoria on another large scale transport infrastructure project and we look forward to delivering the works. Our project team working on Stage 1 of the Plenty Road project has worked very hard and safely to progress the project and the overall delivery programme,” Decmil Managing Director Scott Criddle said.

Stage 2 of the $178.6 million Plenty Road Upgrade project will include:

  • Widening from four to six lanes between Bush Boulevard and Riverdale Boulevard
  • Widening from two to four lanes between Riverdale Boulevard and Bridge Inn Road
  • Upgrades to 12 major intersections including Gordons Road, Waterview Boulevard, Francesca Drive and Bridge Inn Road
  • Improvements to walking and cycling paths

“Plenty Road connects some of Victoria’s fastest growing regions and we’re keeping up with this growth by getting on with the second stage of this vital project.

“This is yet another key upgrade in Melbourne’s north, along with Yan Yean Road and O’Herns Road, so we can get people where they need to be sooner and safer,” Transport Minister Jacinta Allan said.

Design development works will commence soon and major construction activities will commence later this year once Decmil has mobilised on-site. The second stage of the Plenty Road Upgrade is due for completion by mid-2021.

“Getting on with upgrading Plenty Road means faster, smoother and safer journeys for everyone living in Melbourne’s northern suburbs,” Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green said.

Decmil is currently deliver Stage 1 of the project between McKimmies Road and Bush Boulevard in Mill Park. The first stage is expected to be completed by mid-2019.

“The first stage of the Plenty Road Upgrade is nearing completion and along with stage two will being major relief to the tens of thousands of motorists who use this key route through Melbourne’s north every day,” Member for Mill Park Lily D’Ambrosio said.
