The landmark Sydney Metro West Hunter Street Station precinct development is progressing well towards the construction phase with the reveal of concept plans for two new buildings.
Concept Environmental Impact Statements have been released by Sydney Metro for the two new above station buildings and community members are invited to learn more about the project and have their say.
“This visionary development will reimagine the local area through the creation of a vibrant precinct and sense of place, not just a station,” Minister for Transport, Veterans and Western Sydney David Elliott said.
The proposals include a 58-storey building above Hunter Street Station East between O’Connell Street and Bligh Street as well as a 51-storey building above Hunter Street Station West on the corner of George Street and Hunter Street.
Both buildings are planned to include retail spaces and commercial offices.

Planning for both Hunter Street Station over-station buildings will be undertaken concurrently with the procurement of the Hunter Street Precinct Development Partner. Two consortia have already been shortlisted to tender for the development of the Hunter Street Station precinct.
This consultation period provides an opportunity for the community to give their feedback on the concept of the two buildings.
“Feedback received during this planning stage will set the framework for how design excellence is achieved during further planning stages, when the community will again be invited to have their say,” Minister for Planning and Minister for Homes Anthony Roberts said.
