Major works will soon commence on the Wellington Dam Bridge Replacement Project in Western Australia following the awarding of the construction contract to Seymour Whyte.
Water Corporation is replacing the existing bridge at the foot of Wellington Dam near Collie with a new two-lane bridge and pedestrian footpath. The new structure will also feature new approaches and improved safety barriers.
“We are excited to deliver this project, which demonstrates our long-term commitment to Western Australia, and we look forward to working closely with out new client, Water Corporation.
“This project strengthens our presence in Western Australia and is a testament to our existing strong relationship with out supply chain partners, our commitment to supporting local industries and our expertise in delivering infrastructure that creates lasting value for the communities we work in,” Seymour Whyte General Manager, Western Region Mark Davidovic said.

The existing bridge has been closed to traffic since 2021, and it will be demolished during the initial construction phase of the project.
To ensure disruptions to the local community are minimised, traffic management measures and clear detour signage will be in place during construction.
Preliminary works on site are due to begin in late March 2025 and the project is expected to be completed by mid 2026.
Once open to traffic, the new bridge will enhance access as well as offer an unobstructed view of the Wellington Dam’s famous mural ‘Reflections’ – the world’s largest dam mural spanning 8,000 SQM – helping attract more visitors while also supporting regional tourism in Western Australia’s south west region.
