The contract has been awarded and construction is set to get underway in November of this year to upgrade Queensland’s Mount Lindesay Highway between Johanna Street and South Street.
The contract to deliver the $95 million upgrade project has been awarded to local contractor ‘See Civil’.
“We are getting on with the job of delivering key infrastructure projects in Queensland.
“These important upgrades to the Mount Lindesay Highway will reduce congestion and improve safety and connectivity for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. They will also support an average of 70 jobs over the life of the project.
“The Mount Lindesay Highway is a critical freight route and this upgrade will improve safety and efficiency in this area,” Federal Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Minister Catherine King said.
The scope of construction works include retaining current on-street parking arrangements and extending the left turn lane on Tamborine Street for better southbound highway access.
The upgrade will also involve the removal of the northbound left turn access at the South Street intersection from the Mount Lindesay Highway while maintaining the existing left turn to Jimboomba town centre, near Cerina Circuit.

“This upgrade will not only support population growth in the area but will provide locals with a smoother, more efficient journey.
“Jimboomba locals are also set to benefit with increased lanes and intersection upgrades at Johanna and Tamborine streets, and South and Brisbane streets.
“Working with locals, I’ll keep fighting to continue improving the Mount Lindesay Highway,” State Member for Logan Linus Power said.
The Mount Lindesay Highway (Brisbane – Beaudesert), Johanna Street to South Street (Jimboomba) duplication project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments, each committing $63.4 million and $31.6 million respectively.
This project is part of the Queensland Government’s 10-year plan (2018-2028) for Mount Lindesay Highway, which will deliver construction projects as funding becomes available.
“This upgrade by the Miles and Albanese Government will increase capacity and improve safety along Mount Lindesay Highway between Johanna Street and South Street.
“The works will include optimisation of the parking at the Jimboomba State School, including the drop off and pick area on the western service road (Brisbane Street).
“It’s great to see the 10-year forward plan continue to progress into delivery across stages. This is a great win for Jimboomba,” QLD Transport and Main Roads Minister Bart Mellish said.
