Works are set to commence on the new Ballarat Station Precinct, with plans and approvals already finalised for the massive redevelopment project.
“This is a transformational project for Ballarat that will inject a new lease of life into our city – and we’re getting on with it,” Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford said.
This project – valued at $50 million – will include upgrade works on the historic Goods Shed as well as a new convention and events centre, a Quest Apartment Hotel, shops, restaurants, a bus interchange and a new public plaza.
In addition, a 405-space commuter car park and an access road will be constructed within the development site.
“The construction of the multi-level car park is the first step in the transformation of the Ballarat Station Precinct, which will deliver more than 400 car parks and a brand new station precinct for locals,” Member for Buninyong Geoff Howard said.
The redevelopment is expected to create up to 140 jobs during construction and will deliver vital improvements to the precinct.
The new Ballarat Station Precinct is expected to be completed in mid-2018.
“We’ve made significant investment in projects across Ballarat that will revitalise the city and ensure it remains a wonderful place to live, work and do business,” Member for Wendouree Sharon Knight said.
