Works are now ready to get underway on the $60 million Devonport Oval Sports Complex in Tasmania as the Devonport City Council approves the project’s development application.
The approval follows the appointment of local Tasmanian company Fairbrother Pty Ltd as the preferred builder for the project.
“This development is about giving the region access to state-of-the-art sporting facilities.
“This will allow seven different sporting codes to get involved in sport right on their doorstep,” Minister for Sports and Events Nick Duigan said.

The partnership between the Tasmanian Government, Devonport City Council and the Australian Government is delivering the new, fit-for-purpose and expanded indoor court infrastructure for Devonport as well as the greater region.
The State Government is committing $25 million, through the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, towards the Devonport Oval and Indoor Sports Complex.
“The Devonport Oval and Indoor Sports Complex will provide fantastic opportunities for the whole community to keep active, which is part of our Government’s aim to get more Tasmanians involved in sport and active recreation.
“I look forward to seeing construction of this exciting development get underway,” Minister Duigan said.
