Another major Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport works contract has been awarded. This follows the awarding of a $1.8 billion Station Boxes and Tunnelling Works contract in December 2021.
The new contract for surface and civil alignment works is valued at $538.5 million and it has been awarded to the joint venture between CIMIC Group company CPB Contractors and United Infrastructure – a consortium comprised of Burton Contractors, JK Williams and Mulgoa Quarries.

The airport and associated transport projects are central to Sydney’s economic future, and we’ll be ensuring that local communities benefit through the creation of employment and supplier opportunities,” CIMIC Group Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Juan Santamaria said.

Works under this contract will commence this year and are due to be completed in 2024.
About 20 per cent of the workforce for this project is going to be sourced from Greater Western Sydney.

The Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport development will deliver a new metro rail that will connect communities with the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport as well as the growing region surrounding it.
The 23-kilometre railway will provide residential areas a vital link to employment hubs, such as the new Aerotropolis, in addition to providing travellers a connection from the new airport to the rest of Sydney’s public transport system.

The third major contract on New South Wales’ biggest infrastructure project to date has been awarded and the State Government is gearing up for more works on the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport line.
Laing O’Rourke has secured the contract to deliver works on the Sydney Yard Access Bridge project, which is part of the New South Wales Government’s $11.5 billion Sydney Metro project.
The Sydney Metro West’s new Hunter Street Station is taking shape with about 30 per cent of excavation works now complete.
