CIMIC Group companies CPB Contractors and UGL Limited have been awarded a contract - valued at approximately $600 million - by Taswater for the delivery of a capital works program that will support and develop wastewater as well as water infrastructure and other vital regional  water projects in Tasmania.

“The unique combination of UGL’s expertise in the water sector and CPB Contractors’ experience in major project design and construction projects position us strongly to partner with Taswater to deliver world-class infrastructure to the communities of Tasmania,” CIMIC Group Chief Executive Officer Michael Wright said.

The two CIMIC companies, together with Taswater, is set to create an Alliance that will deliver infrastructure planning and project development. The Alliance is also set to deliver capital works across Taswater’s regional assets throughout the State.

Taswater’s regional assets include:

  • Water and wastewater treatment plants

  • Water networks

  • Dams and water storage

  • General asset renewal programs

“We are excited to have the opportunity to partner with Taswater to develop and deliver vital water infrastructure across its network of assets. We will leverage our water industry capability to optimise infrastructure planning, project development and capital deliver,” UGL Managing Director Jason Spears said.

CPB Contractors’ Managing Director Juan Santamaria added: “Both CPB Contractors and UGL have successfully delivered a range of water projects in Australia for more than 50 years. We are really looking forward to bringing the CIMIC Group’s expertise to benefit Taswater and the people of Tasmania.”

The multi-million dollar capital works program contract is going to be carried out over an initial four years.
