Resource Development Group’s subsidiary Central Systems has been awarded a contract by BHP to undertake civil construction works at the Mount Newman operations in Western Australia.
This contract win is in addition to a smaller contracted work from Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) - also in the Pilbara region - which brings the total value of contracts to $14 million.
Central Systems’ scope of works at the Mount Newman mine will include plant upgrades and shutdowns as well as brownfield construction, camp expansion, refurbishments and delivery of road and rail infrastructure.
The Mount Newman operations is part of BHP’s Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) joint ventures and is one of the four main joint ventures including Yandi, Mount Goldsworth and Jimblebar.
WAIO is comprised of four processing hubs and five mines that are connected by a 1,000-kilometre rail line and port facilities in the Pilbara.
