A new major milestone has been reached that will progress the $386.5 million Great Eastern Highway Bypass Interchanges project – a project that will deliver a new free-flowing gateway into Perth’s eastern suburbs.
The Greater Connect consortium – a joint venture between Laing O’Rourke, AECOM and Arcadis – has been awarded the contract to deliver the congestion-busting project.
“This project is receiving $247.25 million of funding from the Morrison Government, part of our $110 billion, ten-year infrastructure pipeline.
“We are investing in critical infrastructure in Western Australia to lay the foundations for economic recovery on the other side of COVID-19 and this project forms part of that,” Federal Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts Paul Fletcher MP said.

“This complements a range of other works underway in the area including the new interchange at Kalamunda Road and Roe Highway and upgrades to Tonkin Highway,” Minister for Transport and Planning Rita Saffioti MLA said.
Two new interchanges are going to be built along the Great Eastern Highway Bypass and the preliminary concept for this project includes:
Early works on this project are anticipated to commence mid-2021 and will be completed by mid-2024, subject to environmental and statutory approvals.
