Builder announced for SA Golden Grove Road upgrade

Major construction on the first stage of the $20 million Golden Grove Road upgrade in South Australia is ready to commence in late 2019, with the major works contract awarded to South Australia-based company Civil & Allied Technical Construction Pty Ltd.

In addition, the Tea Tree Gully Council will also be providing funding to help deliver local infrastructure - such as footpaths and stormwater infrastructure - included in the project.

“Importantly for the local community, the majority of council decided that fixing Golden Grove Road was the right thing to do and they voted to honour their pre-election promise.

“The Marshall Government is now focused on getting the job done and fixing Golden Grove Road as soon as possible,” Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Local Government Stephan Knoll said.

The two-stage project will be fixing a 3.4-kilometre section of the Golden Grove Road between One Tree Hill Road and Park Lake Drive.

Works will include:

  • A new roundabout at the junction of Golden Grove Road and Hancock Road
  • Additional lanes at the intersection of Golden Grove Road, The Grove Way and Yatala Vale Road
  • Protected right turn lanes at most unsignalised junctions
  • On-road bike lanes in each direction
  • Improved pedestrian facilities including new footpath and pedestrian crossing facilities
  • Indented bus bays

Stage 1 of the upgrade will cover One Tree Hill Road to south of the signalised intersection of Golden Grove Road/Yatala Vale Road/The Grove Way while the second stage will cover Park Lane Drive to south of the signalised intersection of Golden Grove Road/Yatala Vale Road/The Grove Way.

“The local community will be ecstatic that the council has delivered on their pre-election promise and is now partnering with the Marshall Government to fix Golden Grove Road.

“This upgrade will improve safety and traffic flow on Golden Grove Road helping motorists to get home faster and safer,” Member for King Paula Luethen said.

Construction on Stage 1 of the Golden Grove Road upgrade is due to be completed in mid-2020.

The beginning of works on Stage 2 will be determined at a later date as it is subject to the outcome from the planning study which investigates future public transport services and infrastructure in the North Eastern suburbs.
