A new milestone has been reached by the $38.4 million Hallam Road Upgrade in Victoria, with BMD Group awarded the contract to deliver the vital upgrade to the key arterial road.
This project will be improving the 1.2-kilometre stretch of road between Ormond Road and South Gippsland Highway in Hampton Park. Works will include:
“We’re adding extra lanes to boost capacity, new traffic lights to improve traffic flow and walking and cycling paths to encourage active transport and improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians,” Member for Narre Warren South Judith Graley said.
This project is vital for the region with more than 40,000 vehicles relying on the busy intersection at Hallam Road and South Gippsland Highway as well as over 10,000 vehicles travelling along Hallam Road each day.
“We’re adding extra lanes along Hallam Road and improving the busy South Gippsland Highway intersection to boost safety and ease congestion for up to 40,000 drivers who travel through here each day.
“Improvements to Hallam Road and key intersection upgrades will better link suburbs across Melbourne’s south east, and finally reconnect the communities of Lyndhurst and Lynbrook,” Minister for Roads Luke Donnellan said.
Construction is expected to begin by late 2018 and due to be completed in early 2020.
