Barminco - a subsidiary of Perenti Group - will be delivering underground mining services at the Savannah Nickel Mine in Western Australia’s Kimberley region with a $200 million contract award from Panoramic Resources.
As the preferred contractor, Barminco will undertake mine development, production and haulage over a three-year period.
Works under this contract is set to commence in March 2020 and the company is expecting to employ up to 170 workers as well as utilise “predominantly new equipment” for the delivery of the Savannah project.
“This project demonstrates our ability to capture organic growth opportunities, with the Barminco business now well integrated into the Perenti group whilst further embedding itself as a leader in underground mining,” Perenti Managing Director Mark Norwell said.
“We look forward to working closely with Panoramic Resources in driving the development of the Savannah North orebody safely and efficiently as it ramps up to full production,” Underground Chief Executive Officer paul Muller said.
The Savannah operations is located approximately 110 kilometres north of Halls Creek. Panoramic Resources is expecting to ramp up to full production at Savannah North in 2020.
