A new train station is going to be built at Cobblebank in Victoria as part of the more than half a billion dollar Ballarat Line Upgrade project, and the Victorian Government has released the designs for the trains station that will be able to service Melbourne’s booming outer western suburbs.

The new train station is going to be located near Ferris Road in Cobblebank - between Rockbank and Melton. This station is set to be the central feature of a planned town centre which is expected to include community facilities as well as retail shops.

The new train station at Cobblebank will include:

  • Two platforms connected by an accessible pedestrian link with ramps and lifts
  • Sealed car parking
  • Drop-off zones, taxi spaces and secure bicycle storage
  • Bus interchange and shelters
  • CCTV cameras and lighting
  • A waiting room with toilets
  • Covered seating on platforms

Once the station is completed, it will be able to service up to 55,000 people.

The Victorian Government will also be funding a new bus route that will provide the local community with more transport options as well as better access to major destinations and services in the region, including the new station at Cobblebank.

“The Ballarat Line Upgrade will deliver more frequent and reliable services for growing communities along the line, including Cobblebank.

“Public transport options are critical to helping create liveable suburbs for Melbourne, now and into the future,” Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan said.

This project is funded through the State Government’s Growth Area Infrastructure Contribution (GIAC).

Construction is expected to commence later this year, with the new station anticipated to be completed in late 2019.
