The $158 million two-tower development adjacent Perth Arena has been given the development approval by Planning Minister Rita Saffioti, and construction on the new buildings are expected to commence in mid-2019.
Far East Consortium’s Perth Hub project - designed by Cottee Parker Architects - is going to be located on Lot 2 and 3A at the Perth City Link development area.
“The Perth City Link project will create hundreds of jobs for Western Australians. As construction and development progresses over coming years, we will see retail, hospitality and hotel operations continue to boost the State’s economy,” Minister Saffioti said.
The first mixed-use tower will be 32 storeys high and it will comprise of 314 apartments as well as 217 parking bays. This tower will also include retail spaces and a tavern at street level.
The second tower will have 23 storeys and it will accommodate a four-star Dorsett Hotel that will comprise of 263 hotel rooms and a number of amenities and dining options.
The Perth Hub development will be featuring a range of housing sizes. This project is set to become the first residential component of the Perth City Link precinct and it is projected to provide housing to approximately 3,000 people once it is fully developed.
The developments on both Lot 2 and 3 were granted approval with additional 16 storeys and seven storeys respectively - which is above the design guidelines. The additional storeys were approved because the project design creatively redistributed the allowable floor space in order to achieve an alternate solution for the two sites.
Minister Saffioti also noted the “unique and high-quality contemporary design” of the two towers and she added that the project will contribute to the new urban character of the CBD’s reconnection with Northbridge.
“The Perth City Link project is underpinned by bus and rail connections, and is an example of what METRONET will strive to achieve by reconnecting our city, attracting private investment and driving new business opportunities.
“Local, interstate and international visitors have Perth Arena and Yagan Square at their feet with the added bonus of direct train services to key destinations. With new hotel options, this will now be the ultimate destination for commuters and a popular weekender escape," Minister Saffioti said.
The tender process for the delivery of Perth Hub is expected to begin later this year.
