BAE Systems Australia has awarded RCR Tomlinson a $93 million contract for the delivery of Facility Management Services for the Australian Defence Force Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) Phase 6 Project.

Scope of works under RCR’s 5-year contract will include accommodation and cleaning services, fire systems, electrical and power generation maintenance as well as grounds maintenance, water treatment and waste management, and HVAC and bulk fuel maintenance across northern Australia’s remote radar network – including in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland.

“We are delighted to be working alongside one of the world’s premier defence companies, BAE Systems, on this critical technology infrastructure and defence project,” RCR Managing Director and CEO Dr Paul Dalgleish said.

The JORN Phase 6 Project is a $1 billion essential works programme the will support the operational life of JORN beyond 2042. The project will involve replacing majority of the radar and frequency management system hardware, information and communication technology hardware as well as upgrading of software architecture and processing.

The Jindalee Operational Radar Network is an over-the-horizon radar system which delivers visibility over the northern approaches of Australia.
