CIMIC Group company CPB Contractors has been awarded a $90 million contract by Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) for infrastructure works as well as gas gathering services at the liquefied natural gas (LNG) operations in the Surat Basin in Queensland.
“CPB Contractors is proud not only of our ongoing work in this sector, but also our long-term opportunity to support and be part of communities in the Surat Basin.
“Our work with local subcontractors and suppliers continues to make important contributions to employment, business opportunities and community benefits for the people of Roma, Miles, Chinchilla and Dalby,” CPB Contractors Managing Director Juan Santamaria said.
Over a two-year period, CPB will be delivering over 300 coal seam gas (CSG) wells at the Surat Basin LNG operations. Works will include the delivery of infrastructure such as access tracks and site lease pad preparation as well as gas and water pipeline gathering networks, electrical supply networks and rehabilitation activities following the installation of infrastructure.
In the last five years, CPB has delivered gas gathering infrastructure to over 800 wells at APLNG’s gas operations.
APLNG is a joint venture between Origin, ConocoPhillips and Sinopec, and is the country’s largest CSG producer. Their operations across the Bowen and Surat Basins supply the Queensland domestic gas market and processes CSG into LNG in order to meet the increase in export demands.
