$560m Dundonnell Wind Farm in VIC given the green light for development

Tilt Renewables is set to begin construction on the $560 million Dundonnell Wind Farm in early 2019, with the company’s board giving the green light to proceed to financial close on the project.

The board’s decision for financial close follows a new 15-year offtake contract signed with a new customer for 50 per cent of the wind farm’s output. This brings Tilt Renewables’ total contracting level to 87 per cent, with the Victorian Renewable Energy Target support agreement taking approximately 37 per cent of the output from Dundonnell Wind Farm.

“These contracts substantially de-risk this project and demonstrate our ability to execute our strategy,” Tilt Renewables CEO Deion Campbell said.

The 336MW Dundonnell Wind Farm is located approximately 23 kilometres north east of Mortlake, Victoria. The wind farm will comprise of 80 wind turbines to be erected across a 4,500 hectare site owned by 12 landholders who have agreed to host the wind farm on their properties.

The wind farm is going to be connected to the National Electricity Market (NEM) using a 28-kilometre 220kV transmission line going through the Mortlake Gas Fired Power Station.

This renewable energy project has already obtained all planning and environmental approvals, and it is continuously progressing the development phase.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the wind farm and balance of plant has been awarded to Vestas; and AusNet Services has been appointed to build and operate the connection assets for the project.

Construction on the Dundonnell Wind Farm due for completion by the end of 2019, with full commercial operations anticipated for September 2020.
